Day 11 The start

Wow we reached the start of the ALCAN today then headed into Ft Nelson staying at 3Gs RV park.  By far the cutest park we have stayed at.  We ate lunch at The Buffalo Inn in Pink Mountain, was a good place to stop and get out of the rain.  We sat next to 3 guys also headed to Alaska except they are on bikes.  One of the guys was former military so I turned him onto staying at military camps.

When we walked out from lunch it at least had stopped raining I looked at Roy and asked what is that.  It was our front stablizer hanging down.  UGH, we at least had a Good Samaritan get down inthe mud and take it off.  We are on gravel so Roy will look at putting it back on at our next stop.  Tomorrow is Canada Day so have a happy.

BTW I can’t get used to sunlight at 10 pm

Day 8 Staying Put

Today was a lazy day Roy slept for most of the day we did drive down to Wabanum very small town  we drove through in 5 min.  Tomorrow on to Grañďe Prairè BC

Day 7 Calgary to Edmonton

We have 2 days here this was where we were supposed to meet Olemaz John from FTF fame.  He had other commitments, but I will take the extra day.  My blog was pretty short last night it was one of those days. The internet didn’t work because we are in Canada, I set up the trailer in record time then distracted Roy.  It was sprinkling and Roy over rotated the electric jack. A neighbor tried to fix it and snapped the pin inside.  The bright side was we stayed in a casino parking lot for free.  Cheapest I ever got out of a casino, we could not unhook the car.  The casinos up here close at night and don’t open up until 9:30, we were on our way out by then.  We found a jack in Edmonton so it wasn’t to bad.  We put it on in the parking lot.  Then headed out to the middle of nowhere to camp.  I did get to take a picture of the world’s largest dragonfly.  We did miss a couple of roadside attractions today because of the mess we fixed.  Random thought we ate at an A&W today had not done that in a long time.  See you tomorrow.

Day 6 East Glacier to Calgary

I am going to keep this short we broke our electric jack so we can’t unhook the trailer.  Tomorrow is Sunday hopefully we can find one.  It also has been raining all day.  We are in Canada the money is colored coded which is cool.  We did visit Vulcan today and Scotty beamed us up.  I promise to post pictures when I can get internet for the computer.

Day 5 Staying Put

This was our second day in Glacier National Park, the views are AMAZING.  This is the last night in the US for about 2 weeks, until Alaska.  I know it will only get colder so tonight is preparing me for it.  Outside it is raining and windy 31 degrees because of windchill.  We did not bring the electric heater because Roy said we didn’t need it.  He was wrong.  This is where sleeping close really works.
Today was wonderous.  We saw snow, fog, and rain while driving The Going to The Sun Road it was exciting today because of the weather.  We did not get to see much of the glacier because of the overcast, although what peaked through the clouds was striking.  On the drive near the top is a feature called the weeping wall water comes directly out of the rock and falls down the face.  It was shrouded in fog so the water falling made a cool mist.  I did not get a picture of this because you really could not capture it.  The landscapes were what inspires artist today it was a study of shades of white.  Oh we did see two sets of wild horse the first group had a foul with them.  They were on the side of the road and traffic was travelling to fast for us to stop.  The second group was just eating by the side of the road.  At first I thought they were more cows, we got lucky because they were horses.  Well tomorrow I will be going through pictures and will upload a bunch if there is internet.  This is such an amazing journey I am glad I can share it.

Day 4 Butte to East Glacier Village

ROCK 1 WINDSHIELD 0  We had a rock hit the windshield and it cracked it.  Roy thought we would lose a windshield on the trip but in Alaska.
Wow I did not know there were that many cows around.  I would have to say we saw at least a couple of thousands or maybe a little less. After we got off the freeway I thought the animals would increase, they did cows around every turn. No eagles or bears yet, maybe tomorrow when we drive through the park.  Well needed two night stay.
After dinner we took a drive near the park, hoping to see any.  No animals I did get some good land scapes.  Well its windy and cold here so I am calling a night

Day 3 Hill AFB to Butte MT

The drive was BORING today, it was a flat climb.  No real trees or valleys just lots of green.  We did go through 3 states and completed 1/10 of our trip at MM42 on I-15 in Montana we crossed 1000 miles. Clark Canyon Reservoir was there 9000 more to go.
We did find a cache in Idaho near Malad, easy park and grab cool view too.  I am thinking of starting a game how many times will I cross the Continental Divide on this trip.  Let me know your guesses there might be something for the person who comes closest.  It happened twice today, MM0 I-15 in MT ele 6875 then at MM112 I-15 in MT

We picked up a mascot also an attempt at a selfie.  More pics to follow.20160622_120528[1]

Day 2 Mesquite to Hill AFB

I will start at the end of the drive today at Hill AFB Fam camp I was able to stand at attention for the playing of TAPS.  I miss Military life.  We got a late start this morning left Mesquite at 9am drove through the Virgin River Gorge very pretty and hot.  First stop was Camping World in St George to pick up the surge protector and wheel chocks. Once back in the car we pointed it north to Alaska and cooler temps, it was 95 when we left Mesquite.  We drove by Browse UT he would not stop so I could browse.  I did make him stop at Beaver UT  they have a huge chair the start of my wacky roadsde attractions.  Made it through SLC during rush hour not bad saw snow on the mountains.  You meet interesting people camping this couple ww me pointers on Alaska. Well calling it a night will get pictures posted oon.
Met the infamous Howard this morning he’s as big as a hoot in person.  We went back and forth with banter on the phone.  This was a good choice on to Butte MT not Butte UT.
